An off duty Garda who was assaulted at Aston Quay has been awarded damages of €75,457 in the Dublin High Court.
The Court heard that the Detective Garda had been on a night out in Temple Bar and was seeking to catch a taxi at Aston Quay. He was viciously assaulted by two men and two females after producing his Garda identification. The Court heard that he was in fear at one stage being thrown into the river Liffey. The Garda suffered a significant knee injury that required surgery.
